let us consider:

x+y=3 - equation. 1

2x+3y=8 -equation. 2

we have to find out the value of x and y.

x=?

y=?

now, we have to multiply by 2 in equation.1

we get, 2x+2y=6 -equation. 3

by elimination method:

subtract equation.2 by equation. 3

2x+3y=8

2x+2y=6

- - -

________

y=2

_________

we get the value of y,

y=2

now, the value of y put in equation. 1

x+y=3

x+2=3

x=3-2

x=1

so, by elimination method

x=1, y=2
