4x-3y = 26 ---------- eq.2

x= 3-y ----- eq.3 (from eq.1)

now, Substitute eq.3 in eq.2

4(3-y)-3y = 26

12-4y-3y = 26

12-7y = 26

-7y = 26-12 (transportation)

-7y = 14

y = 14/(-7)

y = -2

therefore, x = 3-y

                   x= 3-(-2)

                  x = 3+2

                  x = 5

Therefore, x=5 and y =-2
