Given :

→ Two equations :-

  • x + y = 3
  • 4x - 3y = 26

To find :

→ The value of x and y by using elimination method

Solution :

→ x + y = 3 ---------(1)

→ 4x - 3y = 26 -------(2)

Multiplying equation (1) by 3 and equation (2) by 2.

Equation (1) :-

→ x + y = 3

→ (x + y = 3) × 3

→ 3x + 3y = 9 -------(3)

Equation (2) :-

→ (4x - 3y = 26) × 1

→ 4x - 3y = 26 ----(4)

Solving (3) and (4) :-

→ 3x + 3y = 9

→ 4x - 3y = 26

___________

→ 7x = 35

___________

→ 7x = 35

→ x = 35 ÷ 7

→ x = 5

The value of x = 5

Substitute the value of x in equation (1) :-

→ x + y = 3

→ 5 + y = 3

→ y = 3 - 5

→ y = - 2

The value of y = - 2

Therefore, the value of x = 5 and y = - 2
