here using elimination method
X+y = 4
2x-5y=1
multiply by 2 in the 1st equation
2(x+y=4
2x+2y=8
2x-5y=1
- +. -
7y=7
y=7/7
y=1
put the value in eq 1st
X+1=4
X=4-1
X = 3
in the linear equations we always use three methods first elimination , substitution and cross multiplication
