x+y =4 ...(i) xy =1 ....(ii)

Now, y =1/x

so, x+1/x =4

Or, x^2+1=4x

Or, x^2-4x+1=0

Or, x= -(-4)±root[(-4)^2-4.1.1]/2.1

Or, x =(4±root12)/2

= (4±2root3)/2

x = 2±root3

so, y =1/x = 1/(2±root3)
