Answer:

x+y= 5 _____ 1.

2x - 3y= 14 _____ 2.

from 1. y = 5-x put in 2.

2x - 3(5-x) = 14

2x - 15 + 3x = 14

5x = 29

x = 29/5

from 1.

y = 5- 29/5

y= -4/5

Explanation:

By substitution method =

x + y = 5 ------(i)

2x - 3y = 14 -------(ii)

from eq.(i) we get,

x = 5 - y

put the value of x in eq.(ii)

2x - 3y = 14

2 ( 5 - y ) - 3y = 14

10 - 2y - 3y = 14

- 5y = 14 - 10

y = - 4 / 5

Now , put the value of y in eq. (i)

x + y = 5

x = 5 - ( - 4 / 5 )

x = 25 + 4 / 5

x = 29 / 5

value of x & y is =

x = 29/5

y = -4 /5
