Question :- x+y=5 , 2x-y=4 solve by elimination method .

Solution :-

→ x + y = 5 ----------- Eqn.(1)

→ 2x - y = 4 ----------- Eqn.(2)

Multiply Eqn.(1) by 2 and then, subtracting Eqn.(2) from the result we get,

→ 2(x + y) - (2x - y) = 2 * 5 - 4

→ 2x + 2y - 2x + y = 10 - 4

→ 2x - 2x + 2y + y = 6

→ 3y = 6

→ y = 2 .

putting value of y in Eqn.(1) now,

→ x + 2 = 5

→ x = 5 - 2

→ x = 3 .

Hence, x is equal to 3 and y is equal to 2.

x= 3 and y = 2

Explanation:

equation 1 + equation 2

x+2x+y-y = 5 + 4

3x = 9

x= 3

substitute x=3 in equation 1

3+ y = 5
