We are given with the equations-

1) X+Y=5

and, 2) 2X-3Y=4

now to make either of the coffecient of the two veriables (X and Y) equal in the two equations we will multiply a whole equation by certain integer.

so, here to make the presence of 2X in both the equations in will multiply the first by 2.(we can also take 3Y and continue as follows).

now,

1) => 2(X+Y=5)=> 2X+2Y=10

and,2) 2X-3Y=4

So, finally by elimination methord

2X+2Y=10

2X-3Y=4

-. +. - ( Changing the signes)

=>5Y=6 (X will cancel)

now, 5Y=6

Y=5/6

and X => X+Y=5=> X=25/6.
