x + y = 5............(1)

2x - 3y = 4..........(2)

FROM (1),

x = 5 - y.......(3)

SUBSTITUTING (3) IN (2),

2(5 - y) - 3y = 4

10 - 2y - 3y = 4

10 - 5y - 4 = 0

6 - 5y = 0

 - 5y =  - 6

5y = 6

y = 6 \div 5

THEREFORE,

x = 5 - (6 \div 5)

x = (25 - 6) \div 5

x = 19 \div 5

HOPE IT IS CORRECT
