from eq.(1)

x=5-y

put the value of x in eq.2

2x-3y=4

2(5-y)-3y=4

10-2y-3y=4

10-5y=4

y=6/5

now, put value of eq. 2

x+y=5

x+6/5=5

x=5-6/5

x=25-6/5

x=19/5
