x+y=5 and x2-y2=55

so,(x2-y2)=(x+y)(x-y)=55

5(x-y)=55

x-y=55/5

so,x-y=11

Answer:

11

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=5 ----eq1

x = 5-y

x2-y2=55 ----eq2

put value of x in eq 2 we get

(5-y)²-y² = 55

25 -10y+y² -y²= 55

25-10y = 55

-10y = 55-25

-10y = 30

y = -3

put value of y in eq 1

x+(-3)= 5

x = 5+3

x = 8

x - y = 8-(-3)= 11
