\huge\color{red}{\underline{\underline{question\::}}}

x - y = 5

x + y = 19

by substitution method

\huge\color{pink}{\underline{\underline{answer\::}}}

x = 12 and y = 7

\huge\color{yellow}{\underline{\underline{explanation\::}}}

x - y = 5 --------(1)

x + y = 19 --------(2)

From (1)

x - y = 5

x = 5 + y ----(3)

Now , put (3) in (2)

5 + y + y = 19

2y = 14

y = 7

Put y in (1)

x - y = 5

x - 7 = 5

x = 12

So , x = 12 and y = 7

Check :-

x - y = 5

12 - 7 = 5

Also ,

x + y = 19

12 + 7 = 19

So , x = 12 and y = 7

Answer:

x - y = 5

x = 5 + y

x + y = 19

x = 19 - y

5 + y + y = 19

5 + 2y = 19

2y = 19 - 5 = 14

y = 14/2 = 7

x = 5 + 7 = 12
