step by step explanation:

x + y = 6 ( i )

2x + 3y = 9 (ii)

From eq. (i),

x = 6-y (iii)

putting (iii) in (ii)

2(6-y) +3y = 9

12-2y+3y=9

y = -3

putting the value of y in (iii)

x = 6-(-3)

x = 9

Answer :

x = 9;

y = -3
