  x + y = 6
3x  - y = 4
---------------
4x  + 0 = 10
---------------

4x =10

x =10/4

x = 5/2

                  Putting the value of x

 x  + y = 6

5/2  + y = 6

y = 6 - 5/2

y = (12 - 5)/2

y = 7/2

==============================

x - y

5/2 - 7/2

(5 -7)/2

-2/2

-1

==================

x  - y= -1

i hope this will help you
