i'm using substitution method.( you can also apply elimination or cross multiplication method)

x+y=6

x= 6- y ...(1)

also, x-y= 2

putting (1)

(6-y)-y= 2

6 -2y = 2

6-2 = 2y

4/2= Y

y = 2

x= 6-y

x= 6-2

x = 4
