Answer:

x + y = 6 --> (i)

x - y = 2 --> (ii)

x + y = 6

x = 6 - y

Putting the value of x in (ii)

x - y = 2

(6 - y) - y = 2

6 - y - y = 2

 - 2y = 2 - 6

 - 2y =  - 4

2y = 4

y = 4/2

y = 2

Putting the value of y in (i)

x + y = 6

x + 2 = 6

x = 6 - 2

x = 4

Ans. x = 4, y = 2
