Given equations :

$x + y = 8...(1)$

$2x - y = 7...(2)$

On multiplying by 2 in equation (1) :

$2x + 2y = 16...(3)$

On subtracting equ. (2) from (3) :

$3y = 9 \\ \\ = > y = \frac{9}{3} = 3$

On putting the value of y in equ. (1) :

$x + 3 = 8 \\ \\ = > x = 8 - 3 = 5$

Required values : x = 5 and y = 3 ✔✔
