2x + 5y = 12

We have,

x + y = 3

When y = 0 we have x = 3

When x = 0 we have y = 3

Thus we have the following table giving points on the line x + y = 3

EXPLANATION.

Graph of the equation.

⇒ x + y = 8. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 2x + 3y = 20. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1), we get.

⇒ x + y = 8. - - - - - (1).

Put the value of x = 0 in equation, we get.

⇒ (0) + y = 8.

⇒ y = 8.

Their Co-ordinates = (0,8).

Put the value of y = 0 in equation, we get.

⇒ x + (0) = 8.

⇒ x = 8.

Their Co-ordinates = (8,0).

From equation (2), we get.

⇒ 2x + 3y = 20. - - - - - (2).

Put the value of x = 0 in equation, we get.

⇒ 2(0) + 3y = 20.

⇒ 3y = 20.

⇒ y = 20/3.

⇒ y = 6.66.

Their Co-ordinates = (0,6.66).

Put the value of y = 0 in equation, we get.

⇒ 2x + 3(0) = 20.

⇒ 2x = 20.

⇒ x = 10.

Their Co-ordinates = (10,0).

Both curves intersects at a point = (4,4).
