Step-by-step explanation:

x + y = 8

x - y = 4

Adding, both the equations,

x+ x + y - y = 8+4

=> 2x = 12

=> x = 12/2 = 6

x+y = 8

=> y = 8-x = 8-6 = 2

Answer:

Given :-

  • x + y = 8
  • x - y = 4

Find Out :-

  • What is the value of x.

Solution :-

  • x + y = 8 ....( 1 )
  • x - y = 4 ....( 2 )

By adding the equation no ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) we get

➔ x + y + x - y = 8 + 4

➔ 2x = 12

➔ x = 12/2

➔ x = 6

Now, putting value of x in the equation no ( 1 ) we get,

➔ 6 + y = 8

➔ y = 8 - 6

➔ y = 2

The value of x is 6 , y is 2.
