Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-y) ki power 2 = x ki power 2 +y ki power 2 -2xy

 2squrt 3 *2 squrt 3  =  x ki power 2 +y ki power 2 -2 * 1

12  =  x ki power 2 +y ki power 2 - 2

so  x ki power 2 +y ki power 2 =12+ 2

  =14

now

(x+y) ki power 2 = x ki power 2 +y ki power 2 +2xy

 =  14 +2

=16

so x+y =4

Answer:

x - y = 2 \\ x = 2 + y..........(i) \\  \\ put  \: value \: of \: x \: in \: 2nd \: eq. \\ xy = 1 \\ y(2 + y) = 1 \\ y =  \frac{1}{2 + y} ...........(ii) \\  \\ from \: equation \: (i) \: and \: (ii) \\  = x + y \\  = 2 + y +  \frac{1}{2 + y}  \\  =  \frac{(2 + y) {}^{2} + 1 }{2 + y}  \\  =  \frac{4 + y {}^{2}  { + 4y {}^{}  + 1}^{} }{2 + y}  \\  =  \frac{y {}^{2}  + 4y + 5}{2 + y}
