As per the condition given by you,

  ⇒        (x+y) (u+v) = xv+xu+yu+yv

now,

  ⇒    44 × 15 = (40 + 4)(10 + 5)

         and by this ,

             x = 40 , y = 4 , u = 10 , v = 5

now by using the identity, i.e,    

⇒  (x+y) (u+v) = xv+xu+yu+yv

⇒  (40 + 4)(10 + 5) = (40)(5) + (40)(10) + (4)(10) + (4)(5)

                         = 200 + 400 + 40 + 20

                         = 660 is the correct answer of 44 × 15
