x/y+y/x=40/2, find x and y

let us take x/y=a

then y/x=1/a

hence,x/y+y/x=a+1/a=40/2

a+1/a=40/2 (multiplying this equation by a)

a^2+1=40a/2

a^2+1=20a

a^2-20a+1=0

d=b^2-4ac (finding discriminant )

d=400-4×1×1

d=396

a=-b+root d/2a or a=-b-root d/2a

since day is not a perfect square the answer will be in decimal.
