Method of splitting the middle term :-

Divide the coficient of middle term in two parts such that their product is equal to the produt of constant term and the coficient of x^2

x^2 - 11x + 28

=> x^2 - 4x - 7x + 28

=> x (x-4) - 7(x-4)

=> (x-4) (x-7)

x^2-11x+28
Lets' take two numbers which are factors of 28 as well as the sum to -11.
Let's see factors of 28- 1,28,2,14,4,and7.
So only 4 and 7 sum up to 11, but we need the sum as -11, therefore let us take -4 and -7.
So we can see that -4+(-7)= -11 and -4*(-7)= 28.
x^2-11x+28= x^2-4x-7x+28
=x(x-4)-7(x-4)
=(x-7)(x-4)
So these are the factors of x^2-11x+28.
