x² - 2(x + y) -y²

= (x² - y²) - 2(x + y)

= (x + y)(x -y) - 2x - 2y (Since x² - y² ≡ (x + y)(x - y) )

 {x}^{2} - 2(x + y) -  {y}^{2}

( {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}) - 2( x + y)

(x + y)(x - y) - 2x - 2y

hope it helps you
