Solution :

Let p(x) = x²-2x-8

To find zero of p(x) , we

have to take p(x) = 0

=> x² - 2x - 8 = 0

Splitting the middle term ,

we get

=> x² - 4x + 2x - 8= 0

=> x( x - 4 ) + 2( x - 4 ) = 0

=> (x - 4)(x+2)=0

=> x - 4 = 0 or x + 2 = 0

=> x = 4 OR x = -2

Therefore ,

-2 , 4 are zeroes of p(x).
