Given equation : x^{2} +3x+2=0

=> x^{2} +2x+x+2=0

=> x(x+2)+1(x+2)=0

=> (x+1)(x+2) = 0

=> α = -1 (or) -2 ; β = -1 (or) -2

Therefore \alpha ^2+\beta ^2= (-1)^2+(-2)^2

=>1 + 4 =5
