Answer: 0 moles of Y_2

0.5 moles of X_2

3 moles of XY_3

Explanation:-

The balanced chemical reaction is:

X_2+3Y_2\rightarrow 2XY_3

According to stoichiometry:

3 moles of Y_2 react with 1 mole of X_2

Thus 4.5 moles of  Y_2 react with =\frac{1}{3}\times 4.5=1.5moles of X_2

Y_2  is a limiting reagent as it limits the formation of products and X_2 is an excess reagent as (2-1.5)=0.5 moles of X_2 are left unreacted.

3 moles of Y_2 form 2 moles of XY_3

Thus 4.5 moles of Y_2 react with =\frac{2}{3}\times 4.5=3moles of XY_3

Thus there are 0 moles of Y_2 , 0.5 moles of X_2 and 3 moles of XY_3
