⇒Compare x² + 6x + 5 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0 ,

a = 1 , b = 6 , c = 5

⇒discreaminant ( D ) = b² - 4ac

⇒D = 6² - 4 × 1 × 5

⇒D = 36 - 20

⇒D = 16

⇒√D = ± 4 ---( 1 )

⇒By Quadratic formula ;

⇒x = [ ( -b ± √D )/2a ]

⇒x = [ ( -6 ± 4 )/( 2 × 1 ) ]

⇒x = ( -6 + 4 )/2 ] or x = ( -6 - 4 )/2

⇒x = -2/2 or x = -10/2

⇒x = -1 or x = -5

Using factorization method,

x^+5x+x+5=0

x(x+5)+1(x+5)=0

(x+1)(x+5)=0

Equating the factors to 0, we get,

x=-1 and x=-5, which are the roots of the equation.
