Answer:

Given to factorise:-

 {x}^{2}  - x - 12

Identity:-

( x + a)(x - b) =  {x}^{2}   +  (a - b)x  -  ab

Finding a and b(numbers):

Here,

Product= -12

Sum= -1

Numbers= -4,3

Solution:-

 {x}^{2}  - x - 12

 =  {x}^{2}  - 4x  + 3x - 12

 = x(x  - 4)  + 3(x  - 4)

 = (x  - 4)(x + 3)

 Answer:(x  - 4)(x + 3)
