=x^3-3x^2-9x-5=0
=x^3-(5x^2-2x^2)-(10x-x)-5=0
=x^3+2x^2+x-5x^2-10x-5=0
=x(x^2+2x1)-5(x^2+2x+1)=0
=(x^2+2x+1)(x-5)=0
=(x+1)(x+1)(x-5) =0
= x=(-1)
or
= x=5

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:Given equation is x^3 - 3x^2 - 9x - 5.

x + 1 is the factor.

x^3 + x^2 - 4x^2 - 4x - 5x - 5

x^2 (x + 1) - 4x (x + 1) - 5 (x + 1)

 (x + 1) (x^2 - 4x - 5)

(x+1)(x² - 5x + x - 5)

= (x + 1) (x - 5) (x + 1).
