GIVEN:- x⁴ + 1/x⁴ = 1442

we have to find:-x + 1/x

now,

1/x⁴ + 1/x⁴ = 1442

adding (2) both side

=> (x²)² + (1/x²)² + 2(x²)(1/x²) = 1442 + 2

taking square root both side

=> (x² + 1/x²) = 38

again adding (2) both side

=> (x)² + (1/x)² + 2(x)(1/x) = 38 + 2

taking square root both of side

=> (x + 1/x)² = (2√10)²

=> (x + 1/x) = 2√10
