The chemical formula will be XSO4 and X(OH)2.
- As per the known fact, the oxidation state of chlorine is -1. Since two ions of chlorine bind with X, hence, its oxidation state will be +2.
- Now, again as per the known fact, the oxidation state of SO4 is -2 and OH is -1.
- So, one ion of sulphate will bind with one ion of X. Moreover, two ions of OH will bind with X.
- Therefore, the formula of sulphate and hydroxide of metal X is XSO4 and X(OH)2.
