Given :

x_i = 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 And,

f_i = 1,4,10,50,34,15,4,2

To Find :

What are the values of mode and median ?

Solution ;

We know that mode is defined as the value that occurs most no. of times or having the highest frequency .

Now since the frequency is given , so we can easily say that 3 is the mode because its frequency is maximum i.e. 50 .

Since x_i and f_i so we can also write c.f. , in order it will be as :

1,5,15,65,99,114,118,120

We have the formula for median as :

Median = \frac{[( n_{\sum \frac{f_i}{2}}) + (n_{\sum \frac{f_i}{2} + 1})}{2}

So, as per the this formula , median will be :

Median = \frac{n_{60} + n_{61}}{2}

             =\frac{50 + 50 }{2}

             = 50

So, the mode is 3 and median is 50 .
