A River is a captive in the earth - it can never escape it has a fixed source and mouth
Slowly with time the rushing river slows down and becomes gentle. So it grows old silently without letting anyone know. As it breaks down into distributaries , the river becomes slow and it shrinks(withers) , just like an old person and then slowly it joins the sea and loses it's existence...it's existence is swallowed by the sea .Thus it can never escape the river cycle from the source, through the course and to the mouth and is a captive.
