Vinay is twice as old as Monica.5 years ago his age was 3 times Monica's age. Find their presents age.

Let the present age of Vinay be x and that of Monica be y.

From first condition,

x=2y

x-2y=0.................... (1)

From second condition,

(x-5) =3(y-5)

(x-5) =3y-15

3y-x=-5+15

3y-x=10.................(2)

Adding equations (1) &(2) we get,

y=10 and x=20

Therefore,

Present age of Vinay=20 years

Present age of Monica=10 years
