x = 200y - 100

xy = 1500

Substituting value of x,

(200y - 100) y = 1500

200y² - 100y - 1500 = 0

2y²-y-15 = 0

2y²-6y+5y-15 = 0

2y(y-3)+5(y-3) = 0

(y-3) (2y+5) = 0

y = 3 , y = -5/2

x = 200×3-100 = 600-100 = 500

OR

x = 200×-5/2-100 = -500-100= -600
