Step-by-step explanation:

x = 90° ,

XY = 9 cm , YZ = 12 cm

find :- OX = ?

Solution :-

in ∆XYZ , angle x = 90°

XY = 9 cm

YZ = 12 cm

XZ² = 9² + 12²

= 81 + 144

= 225

= √225

= 15 cm

in ∆XOZ , O = 90°

OX² = XZ² - OZ²

= 15² - 12²

= 225 - 144

= 81

= √81

= 9 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

angle x = 90°

XY = 9 cm

YZ = 12 cm

OX perpendicular To YZ

To find:- Length of OX

Solution :-

In ∆XYZ , angle x = 90°

By Pythagoras theorem,

YZ² = XY² + XZ²

12² + 9² = XZ²

144 + 81 = XZ²

169 = XZ²

XZ = √169

XZ = 13

XZ² - YZ² = OX²

13² - 12² = OX²

169 - 144 = OX²

OX² = 25

OX = 25

OX = 5
