SOLUTION :

Given that,

 \frac{y - 1}{3}  -  \frac{y - 2}{4}  = 1

L. C. M of 3 and 4 is 12

 \frac{4(y - 1) - 3(y - 2)}{12}  = 1

 \frac{4y - 4 - 3y + 6}{12}  = 1

Cross-multiplying the terms, we get,

4y - 4 - 3y + 6 = 12

y + 2 = 12

y = 12 - 2

y = 10

Hence,

The required value of "y" is 10
