Step-by-step explanation:

=> y^2 - 30y - 60 - 4 = 0

=> y^2 - 30y - 64 = 0

=> y^2 - 32y + 2y - 64 = 0

=> y(y-32) + 2(y-32) = 0

=> y=32 , y= -2

y²-30(y+2)-4

y²-30y+60-4

y²-30y+56

By using D = b² - 4ac

= (-30)² - 4(1)(56)

= 900 - 224

= 676

 \alpha  =  \frac{ - b +  \sqrt{D} }{2a}  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:    =  \frac{ - ( - 30) +  \sqrt{676} }{2(1)}  \\  =  \frac{30 - 26}{2}  \\  =  \frac{4}{2} \\  = 2
