Hey there!!

We have ,

 {y}^{2} - 4y + 3 \\ \\ = > {y}^{2} - 3y - y + 3 \\ \\ = > y(y - 3) - 1(y - 3) \\ \\ = > (y - 1)(y - 3) \\ \\ now \: we \: \: \: can \: further \: solve \: it \: to \: find \: its \: roots \\ \\ = > y \: = 3 \: or \: 1
Hope this helps u !!
