(y+2)(y-3) = (y-6)(y+9) + 8:

y(y-3) +2(y-3) = y(y+9) -6(y+9) + 8 y²-3y +2y-6 = y² +9y - 6y -54 +8

y²-y-6 = y² + 3y - 46

y²-y-6-y²-3y + 46 = 0

4y + 40 = 0 -

- 4y = - 40

Therefore y = 10
