Any tropical plant is “tender” -- meaning sensitive to temperatures near
freezing. Rubber trees slow their growth at lower temperatures and, as
temperatures drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, leaves lose hydration and
develop necrotic patches that, if temperatures continue dropping,
result in the death -- and loss -- of the leaves.
