The reason y frogs and fishes lay large no. of eggs is to increase the chances of survival for the hatchlings , bcz they have many predators such as snakes, birds, and turtles to eat them up.

Though fish and frogs lay hundreds of eggs all the eggs do not get fertilized and develop into new individuals.
