The value of y- intercept of straight line \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1 is 4.

Explanation:

Given:

The straight line equation is \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1.

To Find:

The value of y- intercept of straight line \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1 .

Formula Used:

The general equation of a straight line is  y=mx+c.

where,

m= the gradient of the straight line,

c = the value where the line cuts the y-axis. and c is called the intercept on the y-axis.

Solution:

As given-the straight line equation is \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1.

Converting the  straight line equation \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1  in  the form of the general equation of a straight line is y=mx+c.

\frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1.

2x+y=4

y= -2x+4

Comparing straight line equation y= -2x+4 with  the general equation of a straight line is y=mx+c.

m= -2 \ and \ c=4.

Since c=4 .

Thus, the value of y- intercept of straight line \frac{x}{2} +\frac{y}{4} =1 is 4.
