Answer:
Movement is considered as an important criterion to differentiate between a living and a non living being. In earlier times, when motorised vehicles were not invented, movement of an individual from one place to another, rather locomotion was considered as an important factor to differentiate between "living" and "non living beings". Even growth is considered as some sort of movement. "Movement" in response to various external stimulus like wind, light, etc., also known as tropic movement is also considered a factor to consider whether someone is alive.
