Dear Mrs Brown,

I am pleased that you are going to rent my house in New Hampton for the summer. As you know we have already finalized the financial arrangements, but I thought that it would be useful if I send you some information about the property and the area.

There is only one stop in the village and it is a combined post office and general store. The general store is surprisingly well stocked and you will be able to buy most of the things you need on a day-to-day basis. There's bread, milk, butter, eggs, canned goods, paper goods, detergent and fruit and vegetables although nothing exotic.

It is not licensed and so if you want to purchase lavender or other malt you will have to go to a supermarket. The nearest one is about fifteen miles away in Franton which is the biggest town in the area, most people in the village do the bulk of their shopping at the supermarket mainly because of the prices: some items are less than half the price charged by the village shop.

You can buy fresh milk and eggs from the farm which you can see from the back window of my house.

Yours sincerely,

Lisa Morrison
