Given:

y=mx +b.

To Find:

Find the equations of the line  use exact numbers.

Solution:

it is given that-

y=mx+b ,  where, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept of line.

it is a slop - intercept form of a line.

To, determine the slope and the y-intercept ;

 we use any two points (x_{1} ,x_{2} ) and (y_{1},y_{2})  on the line, the slope is:

  m = (difference in y values) / (difference in x values)

i.e.,        m=\dfrac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

The y-intercept is the point where x=0 ,that is the line crosses the y-axis at the point (0,b).
