Mahatma Gandhi, Former freedom fighter, Is hated, basically for his ignorance to save Shaheed Bhagat Singh And his companions, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
Basically, I've seen the previous answers, and I'm wondering, people don't know the reason!
To go in detail, It was because, Bhagat Singh, who was a brave freedom fighter from Punjab, was arrested along with his companions, And during the GANDHI-IRWIN pact, Mahatma Gandhi had a deal with Lord Irwin in which he asked him to release the political prisioners, Since Mahatma Gandhi was a Non-Violent leader and Bhagat Singh was with violence, So Mahatma Gandhi didn't ask to release Bharat Singh, due to which there was a great uproar again Gandhi, and Basically, he is cursed for he could have saved Bhagat Singh from "Fansi" or death sentence, But He didn't.


Their views contradicted in this way:
Gandhi's view:

"Agar koi ek gaal pe thapad marre toh dusri gaal aage kro"

Bhagat Singh's view:
"Agar koi ek gaal pe thapad mare to uske dono hath tor do"
