Heya......!!!

Your question :- y^2 + 3y - 18 = 0

This equation is quadratic So we can simply solve it by applying quadratic formulae .

→ ax^2 + bx + c = 0

=> x = [ - b ± √( b^2 - 4ac ) ] ÷ 2a

here :- a = 1 ,, b = 3 ,, c = - 18

Substituting the values in formulae , we get :

=> y = [ - 3 ± √ ( 9 + 4 × 1 × 18 ) ] ÷ 2

=> y = ( - 3 ± 9 ) ÷ 2

=> y = Considering the -ve sign we get → y = ( - 12 ÷ 2 ) = - 6

=> considering + ve sign we get → y = ( 6 ÷ 2 ) = 3 .

➡ Values of y = ( - 6 ) and 3 .
