Hi friend!!
This generally occurs in televisions.
The tiny line (an electron beam) that is present across the TV in the old screens are moved by magnets. Thus if you bring a magnet near, the electron beam is pushed in a path you didn't intend for it to go. Big speakers will do the same.
To get rid of unwanted magnetic fields leaving rainbows on your old type TV, you have to "de-gauss" the screen and get rid of lingering bits of magnetism. Magnets are what make old TV images, so they have to distort the images.
